Hello, everyone! I am here to update my blog after so many changes in my life.
What has changed?
My children have grown up in a blink of an eye. Currently they are 10 and 12 years old.
In a sense, they need less attention in terms of feeding and helping them with most tasks than when they were tiny toddlers, but entering pre-teens will be another challenge ahead for me. Just keeping my fingers crossed.
Relocated to Abu Dhabi
We have relocated to Abu Dhabi from Singapore since Nov 2019. The whole year of 2019 was a mad frenzy to hunt for new schools, pack and move to a new country. All the stress arise from packing, throwing out stuffs, packing essential stuffs and leaving some stuffs in storage, and not forgetting the children still had to sit for Mid and End of Year Exams. Tiring indeed.
After months of waiting and anticipating, we have finally moved and settled in. School did not start until 5 Jan 2020, so we had ample time to unpack our shipment, buy new furniture from IKEA, tidy the house and basically get life organised again, in a new environment.
School Started
The children have enrolled in an International School. Everything is new, the teachers, the mix of nationalities my children get to meet everyday. Best is, sometimes they have no homework! School ends later now that school days are longer than back in Singapore.
They also experienced new ways of learning, using technology, and more ways to express themselves in front of class. Lesser rote learning but more exploratory form, and definitely more vocal.
New Website by learning at Wealthy Affiliates
As they settled down, I began to search for ideas to Work from Home again.
Back before I left Singapore, I met up with a good friend, Joo.
We caught up with each other over a much overdue play date and I was very surprised to learn that she had set up 2 websites with Wealthy Affiliates, and had considerable success, earning a 3 figure income.
My very own experience with online websites were limited to blogspot blogging, some funny work from home sites which I don't have any idea how that works. Sometimes my laptop went haywire, that the idea of internet marketing scared me. I put that off for many years.
Give it A Try
So it was after settling down, that I decided to pick this up again.
Many factors encouraged me to give it a shot at Wealthy Affiliates.
1. Free training. Where else can you get free training without being asked to sign up for extra lessons? Here, I can learn the basic fundamentals of setting up a free website and even getting some basic information pages, and the system does it all automatically without the need to know too many technical jargons.
2. A Community to Learn from and Get Help. When my friend mentioned about the Community of Help, to me, sounded like some forum with anonymous members. What I found these members are so warm, and welcoming towards newbies like me.
3. Learn at your own time. As a Free Starter member, you have access to Level 1 of the Online Entrepreneur Training which consists of 10 informative and easy-to-follow video lessons.
The whole thing about having your online business, boils down to 4 simple steps.
1. Start a website in a niche that you like, or have a passion about.
2. Provide content by posting articles to provide information for your audience.
3. Let your website rank in Google and Search Engines, and that is where traffic will go to your website.
4. After you get tons of traffic, then you can promote products like Amazon affiliate links.
This is a long process, because the steps are simple, but you would need to work at it in the initial phases. It is building the foundation which will pay off dividends in years to come.
It is similar to any vehicle or investment platform that you can use, to generate passive income. For example, in MLM (Multi-Level Marketing), you build a solid downline, and a big customer base. Then when the group is big, they will start to generate a passive income. But you need to devote time to build it, training the leaders, educating the customer base, and reaching out to more people. Likewise in property, you need to invest money to buy a 2 bedroom or an industrial property, then renting out to earn passive income.
For me, I have to commit to this website building. It is not a "Make money fast" overnight scheme, lots of hard work is expected, but you will not need to go alone. Lots of help and guidance will be there for you.
